Speedy deletion of PTF

[edit]

A tag has been placed on PTF requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company or corporation, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for companies and corporations.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the article or have a copy emailed to you. WP:FILMS Questionnaire

[edit]

As a member of WikiProject Films, you are invited to take part in the project's first questionnaire. It is intended to gauge your participation and views on the project. At the conclusion of the questionnaire, the project's coordinators will use the gathered feedback to find new ways to improve the project and reach out to potential members. The results of the questionnaire will be published in next month's newsletter. If you know of any editors who have edited film articles in the past, please invite them to take part in the questionnaire. Please stop by and take a few minutes to answer the questions so that we can continue to improve our project. Happy editing!

Suggestion for YOG 2009 Swimming page

[edit]

Hi Huaiwei, I was about to update the YOG Swimming page but you did a wonderful job in keeping the page up to date. But just a little note. The probability of some of these young athletes to have a page created is actually quite low, and should this be the few events that they represent their country in their life, they would probability fail the notability criteria. In fact none of the swimmers have a page of their own. So may I suggest that is naming the swimmers, we can forego the [[]].

As for the country page, none is created task far as well. While it would be nice to have a summary page for each country, it's notability is also questionable.
Just a piece of my thoughts. Keep in touch and keep up the good work. :) Frankie goh (talk) 12:34, 2 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Huaiwei, thanks for your compliment. I was wondering whether you have the time, cause I thought it will be good if we can divide the task up. Apparently there is only those few of us, and there isn't a portal to coordinate all these efforts (hopefully there will be one in next years YOG). If you are on, then just let you know I'll updating the girl's section first. So maybe you can "hoot" the boy's one! :)Frankie goh (talk) 12:35, 5 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Just given my little input on Mohsen1248. Basically wants to see the Olympic format to be follow, because it is not difficult to follow and won't need to add a lot of byte space because the changes would be minor.Frankie goh (talk) 08:51, 6 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Useage of "flagIOC" templates.

I strongly suggest you reconsider your revert of my edits. Please look at the links you have created for the nations articles ... e.g. "South Korea at the 2009 Asian Youth Games Olympics", "China at the 2009 Asian Youth Games Olympics" ... see the problem? The "flagIOC" templates are designed to be used as {{flagIOCmedalist|[[ATHLETE NAME]]|XXX|2008 Summer}} - then the word "Olympics" is appended by the template to create a link to the "Nation at the 2008 Summer Olympics" article. Yboy83 (talk) 14:31, 2 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fine, however the flag template changes were not the only edits I made to the article... Are you going to put back the other changes I made? ... table fixes, common nouns->lowercase etc. Yboy83 (talk) 14:45, 2 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Huaiwei; I saw on the WP:SKY participants list that you are a senior editor with Emporis. There is currently a debate at Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard#Reliability of Emporis in building articles as to whether information submitted by registered users of Emporis is verified by senior editors, and (if not) if Emporis is even reliable to use as a source in lists of tallest buildings and skyscraper articles. Non-stop flights

[edit]

Non-stop flights has been undergoing several modification based on ideas to expand it. Basic changes are, new tables and separate organisation of "discontinued flights" info (note, the table has atleast 6 items now!) , non-stop flights between cities, non-stop flights of respective airlines plus many many more. Please have a loook. Cheers Smet (talk) 13:13, 19 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The discontinued flight table now has 12 entries Huaiwei. Hope you now understand that it is very useful to have a 'strategic vision' on the management of content when you start creating or editing a wiki article section. That was the whole reason why I argued for a separate table back in 2008. Information is best kept when it is simple for another person who knows nothing about it Smet (talk) 23:48, 26 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, hope you are fine. Have you checked non-stop flight recently. The discontinued flight table now has 16 entries. It reads much better than 'colour coding' and embedding information clutter in the main table. Doesn't it? Smet (talk) 22:41, 7 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Edits you made to Ram Kapoor

[edit]

Please leave the dates as they have been typed, that is the American way of writing dates and that is how we want it to read. In addition the line spaces were left intentionally, to give the article a clean and neat appearance, it was reviewed by an admin and they found no problems with the article. Please do not remove the line spaces, I have undone your edits, please do not re-do them. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Farahs51 (talkcontribs) 15:41, 25 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Once Again

[edit]

I requested that you please do not edit this page by changing the date format or by removing the lines and you have once again done edited the same. I am once again requesting that you DO NOT edit the date format or remove the spacing from this article. This has been reviewed and approved by an admin. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Farahs51 (talkcontribs) 19:16, 25 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Editor and Administrator Assistance sought for Ram Kapoor page

[edit]

I have asked an editor to review the article (Ram kapoor) after I undid your edits. So please do not change the article again. It does state in the Wikipedia policy to not go back and forth and undo/redo edits. So please adhere to the policy and let the article be until reviewed by an admin and an editor. I have also provided them the valid reason for spacing and the other material.

Plus an admin did review the article after it was written, she made a few changes and did not remove the spacing or any sections. So once I would like to inform you that I have submitted the article to an admin/edior for review, until they have reviewed it and provided their opinion and feedback please do not edit the Ram Kapoor article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Farahs51 (talkcontribs) 03:30, 26 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Administrator Complaint Filed Against You

[edit]

I requested that you do not edit the article until the editor assistance has been sought. But you still added and the tag you added is fault because this is a professionally written article, besides the last section there is nothing about the article having a fan flavor to it. Before you add the add again please do show which section besides the "What Ram's Fan's have to say about him" seems written from a fan point of view. This article besides the last section adheres to the Wikpedia standard of writing. IF not please first prove it in my notes. As for the resource the technical person on the team is in the process of adding the refernce link to the source after which we will remove that tag as well.

Once again please do not add false tags, lets wait for the editor and the administrator, I did tell the administrator to look at the history and have provided your notes to him. So at this time, just have patience and lets wait.

I am also forwarding this to the administrator from whom I have requested help. Like I said before, as adminstrator came to the page and made the necessary changes, she did not find the article sub-standard, so please refrain from adding tags.

Please remove one article from your cleanup list

[edit]

In your AWB cleanup efforts, you've been changing the date formats on Cosmopolitan (film) to European style. This is an American film, and so dates are in American style. Please remove this article from your cleanup list. I've reverted your changes to it four times, and would rather not have to do that again. :) Thanks. Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello Huaiwei! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 230 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Hi Huaiwei, I'm not sure if you're around a lot these days but, if you're interested, would you be interested in adding your 2cents to an article about Wikiproject Singapore? Wikiproject reports are presented in interview format and I've got a bunch of questions up at User:RegentsPark/WPSingaporeReport if you want to take a look (and add your own responses). There will be a few more questions. I apologize for the short notice (the report is due on the 15th) but I picked a couple of active contributors (Jacklee and Hildanknight) for the interview and only just recalled that you're, sort of, the grand old editor of Singapore related articles. :) Let me know, or just pop in and answer questions! A tag has been placed on Tabitha Nauser requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for musical topics. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Speedy deletions

[edit]

Regarding this exchange: while it may be hasty to nominate an article for deletion 1 minute after its creation, please remember that any article in the main article space is required to meet Wikipedia inclusion guidelines. If you intend to create an article incrementally, you should really do so in your own user space, and then only move the article to the main space when it meets minimum requirements. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Singapore Youth Festival Central Judging results for display/marching bands requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, a rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button that looks like this: which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. –Dream out loud (talk) 17:18, 22 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You may wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles. See the Article Wizard.

Thank you.

The article Singapore Youth Festival Central Judging results for display/marching bands has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done because the article, which appeared to be about a real person, individual animal, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, did not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the notability of the subject may be deleted at any time. If you can indicate why the subject is really notable, you are free to re-create the article, making sure to cite any verifiable sources.

Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and for specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for musicians, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. NawlinWiki (talk) 19:33, 22 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • The SYF is indeed notable and has its own article. But why would the yearly results of one competition within that festival be notable in any way? That's like saying that because there is an article on the State Fair of Texas, that we have to have lists of the yearly winners of the cow-breeding and pie-making competitions there. Hi. About to head to bed here. The article Singaporean general election, 2011‎ is now linked from the Main Page so there might be increased activity, so this is a bit of a heads up in case you hadn't noticed. Hopefully you can help to keep POV (both pro- and anti-government) out of the article for now, as it seems the Internet campaigning effect of strong anti-PAP sentiment might spill over onto Wikipedia. Thanks, and keep up the good work. Strange Passerby (talkcont) 15:41, 8 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article Camps and bases of the Singapore Armed Forces has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unverifiable, unsourced table. Wikipedia is not a directory of information.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Strange Passerby (talkcont) 08:42, 15 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Camps and bases of the Singapore Armed Forces is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Camps and bases of the Singapore Armed Forces until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on good quality evidence, and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. Strange Passerby (talkcont) 11:07, 15 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

"The phenomena of this social reaction here is itself worth documenting because it is encyclopaedic" - nice statement, but a huge assumption, and incorrect. Is a fad that lasts a week notable in the grand scheme of things? Probably not. That's why it is important to see what the scope of the matter is (hence "notability is not temporary") before deciding on its utility. Case in point - Cheerleader Kristi Yamaoka got three days of press in the news for injuring herself at a college basketball game here in the US during a cheer. Her eventual article was all about the accident, had no sources dated more than three days after the event, and we didn't even have basic biographical info about her in the article, like when she was born. She wasn't notable, and the accident was only a temporary news flash. Nobody cares about her now other than maybe in a "where are they now" way. In short, neither she nor the event had any lasting impact that could be verified once time had passed and things could be viewed objectively as opposed to the subjectivity of mass media frenzy.

What makes this encyclopaedic? Again, sounds nice, but a couple of news articles in a short span of time do not an encyclopedia entry make. Case in point - before the Internet, people had to decide what was worthy of inclusion in an encyclopaedia, even when looking at the news. So the question is, if we're going to look at newsworthy events as material, is this "Mark Twain serializes new story" or "Local woman has cat stuck in tree"? Just because the news picks it up is no indication of its encyclopedic value.

Most importantly, Wikipedia is not a flash mob info dump - if something is notable and worth documenting, it is not Wikipedia's job to take the lead in doing so. In fact, there are policies prohibiting this. This is not a blog, nor a "breaking news" or "new trends" site. When someone else does the research and decides that this is some watershed moment in social scientific history, that's one thing, but it is not the job of WP to make that decision for itself. The article Marina Mandarin Singapore has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable building, article resembles business-directory listing.

Shearonink (talk) 15:40, 10 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination of Marina Mandarin Singapore for deletion

[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Marina Mandarin Singapore is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Marina Mandarin Singapore until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion.

Shearonink (talk) 15:23, 11 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding your comment here, please consider assuming good faith about other editors. You are referring to a mistake I made when a person came into IRC-Help and asserted the driving direction to be so. I admit it, I did not do the research, I took them at their word and changed the text. It was quickly reverted by Chipmunkdavis with this edit. Alarics came on my talkpage, informed me I was wrong, and I admitted my mistake here. I already apologized on my talkpage. --Shearonink (talk) 19:53, 11 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I personally do believe pointing out your ignorance on Singapore-related matters can be a contributing factor behind its nomination in the first place. This is the WP:Bias that editors in smaller countries have to regularly handle when editors from bigger countries nominate items and call them "non-notable" out of their own sheer ignorance, or in their believe that things related to smaller countries are inherently non-notable (I found myself having to defend keeping articles over the years, like Jurong East Bus Interchange (because some people simply could not understand that a "Bus Interchange" here is much bigger than a simple "Bus Stop") and Jurong Point despite the mall being the largest sub-urban mall in the country, which is considered "non-notable" just because it is not as big as gigantic sub-urban malls in much bigger countries.) While I do agree ignorance is a universal phenomenon, the least I would expect nominators to do, is to judge not just the current quality of the article, but to do at least a simple research on google, in order to ascertain if it was truly a case of "obvious non-notability" or simply a badly written article which could have been expanded and thus saved. If editors may just spend more time building up worthy articles instead of arbitrarily flagging them for deletion and force others to waste time defending articles, I do believe this site would be as enjoyable to contribute as it once was for me.--Huaiwei (talk) 04:25, 15 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
If the consensus is for the article to be kept then the community will have spoken that the subject is notable enough. When I nominate any Wikipedia article for possible deletion, I am not making a blanket judgement about the article's worth...it means that I have been personally unable to tell if the subject is notable from the article's content (and yes, I do research the subject as much as I can at the time). If references can be found and text written to prove that the subject is notable and should be kept? That is great! I'm happy that an article will be kept instead of deleted.
Personally, I would like to remind you that I am not other editors and have treated your posts here and elsewhere with dignity and respect. Perhaps you have run into others who arbitrarily flag articles but I do not do so...I have participated in resurrecting many articles on a variety of subjects from stubs and poorly-written beginnings. If my previous apology for a one-time mistake is not enough to mitigate your continued assertions, then there is nothing more to be said. Shearonink (talk) 04:57, 15 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps my tone was too direct, but I do not think I have to mince my words if my direct message to you is to first do simple research first, try to build up the article, and then flag it for deletion as the final step if all else fails. What you may have done is probably not as arbitrary as other cases I have come across, and if you are offended by my sweeping remarks, I do apologise, but I find it extremely hard to believe that it is that difficult to note the scale of this building both from the pictures already on the page and from google search as what Yk3 did. I am not sure if this is due to ignorance over architectural appreciation or what, but I am a senior editor in the very source cited in that page (Emporis, which you consider inadequate), and I would have researched on thousands of buildings to know how notable a building actually is. Of course all these are pointless when it comes to supporting notability of an article, but I do question if we spent enough time combing through 662,000 google search results and sieving out commercial travel sites before coming up with the conclusion that there are no "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject". I personally do not have the time in recent days to do this amount of research, but this being a collaborative effort in the first place, I certainly do hope others may chip in and pages do not disappear just because I am not around to build them up. I simply do not WP:own any article, and I am tired of having to defend so many of them, which fortunately or unfortunately often have my thumbprint on them. It is indeed sad that smaller countries often invariably have a smaller pool of editors to build up articles to an acceptable quality, and the few which do appear disappears as a result.--Huaiwei (talk) 07:06, 15 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • As a neutral third party to all this, I agree with Shearonink's rationale even though the article is important when in reference to Singapore related articles. Huaiwei, the fact remains... we need to find a reliable source to establish its notability. Arguements and discussions won't solve the problem and even if Shear had not nominated it for deletion, someone else would have done so sooner or later. What are you going to do then? What if it was me? Don't let the problem manifest itself when you can take the proactive approach by solving the notability issue with a solid reference that stands. And if that solid reference is still being ignored, rest assured that I'll be the one contesting it, in turn. That much I can say. --Dave ♠♣♥♦™№1185©♪♫® 05:51, 15 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • If you may act as you preach, perhaps you could be helping to improve on the article right now as well instead of weighing in on a discussion which is non-consequential. My personal view on a particular problem of this site based on the actions of relatively ignorant nominators remain intact, for I have seen more than enough of odd nominations, and yes, including from fellow Singaporeans such as this one: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Camps and bases of the Singapore Armed Forces to feel somewhat jaded and even offended at times. And if any Singaporean wishes to delete a page such as this based on "non-notability", I would love to personally meet this person to ascertain his familiarity with his own country and cityscape and perhaps bring him on a much-needed architectural tour around Singapore myself. In reference to solid references, I do believe I have already noted the title of one book, which I unfortunately do not have ready access to right now. If you may be of some help beyond making the above posts, how about checking up the book for us in any public library?--Huaiwei (talk) 07:06, 15 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Airline destination articles

[edit]

I've reverted two of your recent edits to two airline destination articles [1] [2]. Hong Kong and Macau have always been separate airspace blocks as mainland China, and the long-standing consensus on Wikipedia is that redacted following Huaiwei's response below. 21:40, 30 September 2011 (UTC) they should be listed separately in articles relating to civil aviation. I hope also to remind you from refraining to use edit summaries like "Correction" and "format" to describe such edits, as they are rather misleading considering the implication of your edits. Thanks. Deryck C. 19:30, 29 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

That isn't the convention. SchmuckyTheCat (talk)
As a matter of fact, I have been editing airline-related articles far longer than you, and I, in fact, am the one who first came up with the first systematic list which listed airports under the continent-region-country-city convention. That convention has remained consistant for a much longer time until someone went about changing all of them without consensus from the community. I am just too tired to keep changing them back, but I do so each time I have time to spare. The country which the two SARs belong to is the PRC. There is absolutely nothing factually wrong about this, and it IS factually wrong to have Beijing etc listed under the PRC while HK is listed separate from it. Hence, the reversions will continue to occur, and I do think you should help to change them back too.--Huaiwei (talk) 14:52, 30 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
What's factually wrong about this is that the airports do not belong to the "PRC airspace". The main problem here is a wholesale disregard for context in favour of political correctness under the continent-region-country-city system. I do accept that you've been far more involved in editing aviation-related articles than I am, but I hope you'd also refrain from asserting ownership of the airline destination list system. I'm ready to file an RfC to attract more opinions on this issue. Deryck C. 21:40, 30 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
In response to a specific case: you raised the query as to why Hong Kong and Macau should be listed separately, when Beijing etc. remain listed under PRC. This is again a matter of context. Visit the flight schedules page on the official Singapore Airlines website: [3]. (This is your flag carrier airline, and I do hope you're proud of them!) The drop-down menu says "Beijing, China" but "Hong Kong, Hong Kong". A similar situation occurs for the SEAir route map [4] which lists Hong Kong and Macau with the same font-size as Thailand and other country names (and bigger than Bangkok). Regardless of what the reason for such listing is, be it historical legacy or division of airspace, this is the convention adopted by SQ (and the civil aviation industry as a whole, as far as I understand), and this is the standard Wikipedia should follow, in line with the concept of "reliable sources". Deryck C. 22:08, 30 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It is not factually wrong when the list is a list of political entities, and not of airspace. Just about anyone except sinophobic HKers will see the list of countries precisely as that, and not over who has jurisdiction over airspace. Kindly note that wikipedia serves the global community, and not the views of ant-Beijing, pro-democracy Hkers. Clearly, NPOV is far more important than any policy you dare to cite, including the "reliable sources" you tried to use to substantiate your point. If we are to use airline sources, then are you going to change the way these destinations are listed especially for the Chinese carriers, for almost all of them do not classify HK and Macau as international, choosing instead to call them "regional" destinations? This inconsistency means as an NPOV site, we will use a non-debatable reality, which is the fact that the political entity called the PRC includes the sub-political entity called the HK and Macau SARs. And this is the basis of the original list, which I highlighted not to assert ownership, but to point to you that it was the established and accepted convention for a much longer time. As such, the lists will be corrected and reverted as is deemed fit.--Huaiwei (talk) 10:09, 1 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I filed an RfC on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Aviation/Style guide/Lists. Please see my response there. I hope you'd also refrain from the personal attack of alluding that I'm a "sinophobic HKers" and that my writing is aimed only towards "ant-Beijing, pro-democracy Hkers".
As for Chinese carriers, I'm fine with their destination lists listing Hong Kong and Macau as domestic (or PRC) destinations, as long as the airline's official publications classify them as domestic rather than international destinations. Deryck C. 12:46, 1 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Putting "Did not advance"

[edit]

Hi. I have some concerns. I noticed that you reverted the format I did on the article for all sports, which is putting "did not advance" using "n/a" template. The problem is that it becomes easier to confuse especially when this does not follow from the example in the manual. Can you please put simple "did not advance" only without using background color, or {{n/a}} template for those who are eliminated in the rounds? Only {{n/a}} template can be used only for "n/a" and "bye", not for "did not advance" or vice versa. Always follow the manual on WikiProject Olympics: WP:OLYMOSNAT. Thank you and I hope you understand. Bear my patience and hardwork regarding on editing and updating the results. (T.C) 13:09, 31 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I too, have my concerns:
  • The idea of using that template did not originate from me. In fact, I simply used what was used in other existing country articles from previous games. Hence, it is pretty obvious to me that there was no universal application of the MOS as you claim, which leads me to the next point:
  • You appear not to really understand the whole spirit of the MOS. It is, at the end of the day, a guide, and it does not explicitly insist on background colour nor the font, which you claimed the MOS does. The MOS actually only gave an example from one page, which btw, is not representative if you bother to look around.
  • Your claims of "confusion" is confusing in itself. How in the world should a template cause confusion, when the viewer will not see the code unless he tries to edit it? And even if he tries to edit, I certainly was not confused, and clearly neither where you. So just what exactly is the issue here?
So it appears to me that you are nitpicking with me over a ridiculously trivial issue, just because you believe in complete conformity. Well I am afraid I hold different values, and I believe minor deviations can lead to improvements, including this case where the template in question is better antithetically in my view. I will therefore continue to use it until I can be convinced that somehow a white background looks better. Enjoy your day.--Huaiwei (talk) 15:23, 31 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of programmes broadcast by MediaCorp Channel 8 until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. Invitation to the African Destubathon

[edit]

Hi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 53 African countries, so should be enjoyable! So it would be a good chance to win something for improving stubs on African sportspeople, including footballers, athletes, Olympians and Paralympians etc, particularly female ones, but also male. Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 + stub count, of which many are rated high importance (think Regions of countries etc). If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing a few expanded articles on African Paralympians, Olympians and committees etc, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section. Diversity of work from a lot of people will make this that bit more special. Thanks. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:13, 6 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Singapore Navy photos

[edit]

Hello,

We have never conversed, but I know you are one of the pioneer Singaporean Wikipedia editors from seeing your username plastered across many pages of Singapore in the past. Recently, I have revamped the Republic of Singapore Navy page massively to improve its contents and bring it in line with the pages of other navies. I also note your photo of the Sea Wolf-class Missile Gunboats.

After searching through US archives and Singapore's NAS, plus official RSN channels, your photo remains the only one which may be used on Wikipedia due to copyright issues. While I am aware you do not really edit Wikipedia anymore, may I know if you have more photos of the Missile Gunboats, or even the Missile Corvettes? This would assist greatly in my pursual to improve the page.

Thank you. Seloloving (talk) 15:50, 21 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
