Overall View
[edit]While this article manages to describe some parts of 3 biggest mansions, each part really lacking. There is no real insight on any of the house description, no single format and obvious bias in the way how certain dogmas are described. Very poor article in overall. Here here my Lord....The Hebrew names in the Twelve Tribes of Israel section are from some fringe guy. Twelve Tribes members call him Jesus Christ and they call Israel with the Anglo-Jamaican accent. We aren't Spriggsites, Black Hebrew Movement, or Messianic Judaism. We hold pretty much the same celebrations as the other Orders of Rastafari and not any of the Jewish Festivals although you can do that in your yard if you feel like it. Read the Bible a Chapter a Day and prepare to leave the West. — Preceding unsigned comment added by NattyJudah (talk • contribs) 01:05, 8 March 2012 (UTC)
Cleanup
[edit]This article needs a good bit of attention. There are more than three mansions of Rastafari, not even counting the various off-shoots that are considered respectable. There is nothing here on the Ethiopian World Federation or the Rastas in the Ethiopian Orthodox Church, for instance, though we have to be careful not to include pseudo-mansions that exist only on the Internet, such as "Fulfilled House", which takes their name from a comment made by Judy Mowatt. More detail needs to be given about each of the mansions, their history and principles, in a respectful but NPOV way. Whig 07:02, 23 May 2005 (UTC)
No! Takwedo Church YES, is a source of Rasta Belief, but NOT a Rasta house.

Best is if you can read Rastafarians ~ Leonard Barrett -- (Paperback - January 31, 1998) Our Price: £13.29 Used & New from £5.99
Comments about above paragraph. First of, its true that 12 tribes of israel does not have official website. This is due to wish of Prophet Gad. However, there are many websites which are hosted/maintained by official members of the mansion. Then, there is no "House Of Bobo dreads". Official name would be Bobo Ashanti.
Rastafari Centralization Organization, RCO is not a mansion per se. Its a group of individual persons who gather and work towards unifying the whole rastafari movement. Bobo Asahanti & Nyabinghi support RCO, Twelve Tribes is not part of RCO. Shassamane Settlement is not really a mansion either. Its more of a community project which aims to schooling infrastructure to land grant. All houses present in Shassamane are taking part of this project but for a time being, Twelve Tribes is seen as a leading house in this project.
Also, i'd like to raise a question on the validity of EWF, if its a rasta mansion or not. If my memory is working correctly, the origins of the group are not within the rastafari movement even thou many of its members are rastafari. Rasjani 21:32, 9 February 2006 (UTC)

Ethiopian Zion Coptic Church
[edit]I oppose this being merged with this article, as they are a Christian group and this article is exclusively about Rastafarian groups, SqueakBox 00:19, September 13, 2005 (UTC)
I being an ethiopian oppose the idea as well no true Ethiopian would dare call himself a rastafarian
This article should not be merged. It is not an article but the report of an incident. It has no importance to a broader NPOV discussion of the ideas it claims to espouse.
i also think that it should not be merged with Rastafari as Ethiopian Zion Coptic Church are not in any way part of the Rastafari movement. They share reverence for Marcus Garvey, however they do not follow the teachings of, or claim inspiration from Haile Selassie I, the common thread of all Rastafari Mansions.
ZCC Was part of the Jamaican history its works are covered within few books that cover the history of rastafari movement but its usually categorized as totally seperate movement which has only loaned ideas. I oppose the integration. Rasjani 21:35, 9 February 2006 (UTC)
Dont merge, not rasta mansion or house.
Don't merge it. It will be false. This is a fraudulent article...Get into the the Jamaica Gleaner archives since they are no friends of the Rastafari Movement and educate yourselves...lphowell foundation will preserve his legacy globally. How do you people get off by naming three mansions of Rastafari Movement????These sects all have a constitution and by laws that is totally different to the By Laws and Constitution as grounded by Councilor Leonard P. Howell. How do you think the Icient Howellites who are the Rastafari Movement feel when they see these LIES.....You have never met them and Gong Howell brought the NyahBinghi to Jamaica...The Nyahbinghi is now a church at Scott Pass and use the Bible....ask wat a gwaan????Totally incorrect...THE TRUTH MUST BE WRITTEN NO MATTER HOW UNPLEASANT IT IS TO MANY WHO SEEK TO DEFINE WHAT THE KNOW NOTHING OF....
Niyabinghi section
[edit]This needs extreme cleanup and I suspect it contains plagarized text as it currently stands. Nyahbinghi as its actually spelt really mean "death to the oppressors" regardless. This misconseption about "black victory" started when the oppressor was the white colonialist
Should not Nyabinghi come first? --79.175.66.251 (talk) 23:48, 4 December 2009 (UTC) nyahbing is the ancient order of melchezedek, and the ambrella to the movement of rastafari churchical nad theocratic reign. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 196.21.83.196 (talk) 07:44, 3 May 2012 (UTC)
The "Twelve Tribes of Israel" Link
[edit]The link listed at the foot of the "Mansions" article is in fact to the page of a tiny Christian sect, who do not claim to be part of the Rastafarian faith, but simply share a name.N.B. the media concern regarding this unrelated group. It's not a recent article, but this is from the UK Guardian in 2000... http://www.guardian.co.uk/racism/Story/0,,339216,00.html#article_continue --Scroobious 22:58, 28 October 2006 (UTC) The Twelve Tribes of Israel was formed by EWF adherents in Chicago.......The only thing they have in common with The Rastafari Movement is the Ivinity of His Imperial Majesty which they have just acknowledged......The use the Bible which is the antithesis of the Rastafari movement which left all aspects of the slavemasters doctrine of christianity and their Bible the tool of mental enslavement in the gutter. Christianity is of the Vatican which is the enemy of the Rastafari Movement.
Who has been writing much of this dishonest stuff???This page needs cleaning up terrible...... — Preceding unsigned comment added by Leonard Percival Howell (talk • contribs) 05:46, 6 May 2012 (UTC)
Twelve Tribes Of Israel sees H.I.M. Haile Selassie InI I Ist as the embodiement of the Davidic Covenant in the 20th century. Before he left the stage of world affairs He said, "The successor to our beloved son, Merid Azmatch Asfa Wossen, either as Acting Crown Prince or Crown Prince is his son Prince Zere Yacob Asfa Wossen. (April 14, 1973, Reuters)
Zere Yacob resides in Ethiopia today.
Twelve Tribes of Israel differ from other Rastafarian mansions because we see Jesus Christ as lord and savior, and await his return to sit on the throne that His Majesty sat on. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2602:306:C511:710:A594:E2C1:BBF3:52B4 (talk) 03:56, 13 June 2013 (UTC)
"The Twelve Tribes of Israel" link (cont.)
[edit]Apologies, should have checked before posting above, but there is a detailed discussion of this Christian group, titled "Twelve Tribes" and accessable from the disambiguation.Still an incorrect link, mind. Scroobious 23:08, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
Bobo Ashanti, Racism, Misogyny, et. al.
[edit]There really need to be some sources and citations to support these claims. Also, the sentence "However, some consider Bobos deeply racist against white people, as well as misogynistic" is exceptionally weak sans citations. Who are these "some?" JasonPresyl 23:54, 5 August 2007 (UTC)
Jimmy Cliff & Prince Buster Muslim?
[edit]Is there any citation for this statement in the Nyabinghi section?? I have researched Jimmy Cliff's own site, and it states he has studies all rleigions of the world, but noting about being Muslim?? I havent found enough research on Prince Buster?--Chicagomusicfan 22:38, 13 November 2007 (UTC)
- Cliff is indeed a Muslim, and I've heard the same regarding Buster, but like most of what's written on this page, it could use a citation.--Chimino (talk) 10:42, 17 January 2011 (UTC)

Rewrite or at least reorganize
[edit]This kind of Wikipedia entry (with large, long blocks of uninterrupted text and few illustrations) is not very inviting to the reader. It looks more like a term paper than an encyclopedic article.
Some judicious editing would help (it is overly long) and breaking those large, chunky paragraphs into smaller ones (incorporating more variety of sections and heading) would provide some white space that helps the reader cope with the massive amount of information. Eyes need a break, too!
This piece would also be enhanced with more visuals--illustrations, maps, photographs--that would provide a break from this enormous amount of copy. 69.125.134.86 (talk) 01:56, 9 July 2013 (UTC)
- Well, it's not very inviting to read, yet not worse than many other articles. I believe it would make sense to break apart at least the sections about Bobo Shanti, the Twelve Tribes and Niyabinghi to separate articles, just keeping a short abstract of each in this umbrella article here. That would help keeping the focus. It would also make it easier and more rewarding for someone to rewrite just one or the other aspect. --PanchoS (talk) 23:29, 5 November 2013 (UTC)
- Reading the other complaints on this discussion page, as a first step, I now recovered the independently preexisting articles on Bobo Ashanti and the Twelve Tribes and linked them as being the main artcles on these two Mansions. I also corrected the quite chaotic Interwiki links that hadn't been automatically migrated to Wikidata. Now, there's still a lot of work to do, and we need to take care that the text included here needs to be properly migrated to the two more specific articles - not simply copy and paste, please. I'll carry on with this in the next days. --PanchoS (talk) 13:31, 6 November 2013 (UTC)
- Now also restored the preexisting article Nyabinghi. All of these were obviously blanked out without any discussion and copy'n'pasted here by SqueakBox, to form the basis of this umbrella article. Wasn't correct back then, but is long ago. We should focus now on improving the individual articles of the three mansions without doing the same copy'n'paste mess. It's already been quite some work to recover all of that and to correct Wikilinks and Interwikis. --PanchoS (talk) 16:15, 6 November 2013 (UTC)
